Bhupinder meets Montek, seeks package for State

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Bhupinder Singh on Friday called on Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia in New Delhi and sought better package for the State. Singh held an half hour long meeting with plan panel chief appraised about various incomplete projects of the State.

The Opposition Leader urged to consider the request made by Orissa Planning and coordination Department.

He also took up with Ahluwalia on status of implementation of Vijaywada-Ranchi highway project and sought special allocation during the current year to ensure timely completion of the project. “Long-term assistance should be provided to the State's backward Kalahandi, Bolangir and Koraput (KBK) region,” he said.

Singh also met Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister CP Joshi and urged for more funds for the State. Singh also urged Joshi to expedite NREGS.

Earlier on Wednesday, Singh called on AICC chief Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath Residence and apprised her about present developments of the State. Bhupinder Singh thanked Sonia Gandhi for setting up a Central University in Koraput and timely sending of Central team to Kalahandi to take stock of epidemic like situation.

Opposition leader Bhupinder Singh also appraised the party high command about the last Assembly session.

He also sought help of AICC chief for resuming rail service from Keshinga to Bhubaneswar again and run a train on line of Hirakhand Express. He also urged her to expand the KBK funding.

On Thursday, he met the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and discussed various issues pertaining to the State as well as party’s affairs.
