Odisha: Vedanta Foundation Organizes Healthy Baby Competition at Bhawanipatna

Report by OrissaDiary.com correspondent; Bhawanipatna: Healthy children are necessary for a health society, keeping this in mind, Vedanta Foundation on November 29, 2011 organized a Health baby Competition at Bhawanipatna where 60 babies of seven months to one years of age participated. Rupa Nayak - an 11-month baby won the first prize while Premjot Singh and Swastika Panda bagged second and third prize respectively.


Chief Guest on the occasion, Saudamini Das – DSWO, Kalahandi, attended the function and advised the mothers to take care of their babies and gave some valuable tips to keep the babies healthy. Dr. Sabita Swain – Chief Medical officer, Vedanta Hospital, Lanjigarh gave some valuable tips to minimize the child death rate. Other guests present on the occasion were: Banabasini Biswal – Programme Officer - ICDS, Kalahandi; Dr. Bijaya Kumar Kampa and members of Vedanta Balchetna Anganwadi Project (VBCAP).

Apart from the top three healthy babies, three other prizes were distributed where prize for Healthy Skin went to Adyasha Padhee; Prize for Beautiful Eye went to Pratikhya Mahakud and Prize for Cute Smile went to Bikash Ranjan Pradhan.

Balakrushna Rath, project head – VBCAP, spearheaded the programme while Gaurab Parida – district head, was instrumental in organizing the programme.
