Kalahandi bandh for the cause of farmers called by Kalahandi Congress was a success. The Congress has been asking the State Government to provide bonus of ` 300 per quintal over the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.
All shops and business establishments were closed and vehicular traffic was off the road.
Banking services and normal work of State and Central government offices were adversely affected.
As a preventive measure, 70 Congress workers were taken into custody and released later.
Lok Sabha member Bhakta Charan Das said if the State Government does not declare the bonus the party would intensify the agitation.
