Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput students can write exam in Bhawanipatna

Times of India, May 18, 2013

CUTTACK: Coming to the rescue of KBK(Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) region students, the Ravenshaw University has decided to open an examination centre at Bhawanipatna. Every year, thousands of KBK students, aspiring for a seat in the university, had to travel to Cuttack for the entrance tests to different postgraduate courses. It was not only time consuming for the poor students but also added to their financial burden.
"We noticed that poor students from KBK region faced problems while traveling to Cuttack for the entrance examinations. From now on, they can write the exam at Bhawanipatna," said vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw B C Tripathy.

"Though students could apply online for different courses, they had to take the entrance exam at the varsity. It deterred many poor students of KBK from applying in Ravenshaw as they couldn't afford to come down to Cuttack. The new initiative will solve their problem," said faculty of the varsity Netaji Abhinandan.

The entrance examinations for postgraduate courses will begin from June 20 and conclude on June 23. All arrangements have been made at Bhawanipatna Government College. "We have discussed the matter in detail with Bhawanipatna college authorities and they have assured to cooperate us," the VC added.

The varsity will also publish advertisements about Bhawanipatna examination centre in different newspapers to let the students know about the new initiative. The university is also going to launch some new courses from this academic session, including master degree in international studies, postgraduate courses in Sanskrit and statistics and MPhil in life sciences.
