No let-up in Kalahandi college row

Baying for incumbent Collector Roopa Mishra’s scalp following the college union function fracas, the irate college students also boycotted the internal assessment examinations, which were scheduled to start on Monday morning.
The agitating students have been boycotting classes for the last four days.
The students’ union is irked over the alleged intervention of the District Collector in the union’s agenda that triggered unwarranted situation at the Golden Jubilee Celebration held on February 28 graced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Since then, the students’ union has been adamant on its one-point demand seeking the District Magistrate (DM)’s transfer by boycotting classes and demonstrating inside the college premises.
With no response from the State Government, the union boycotted the internal assessment examinations finally and submitted a three-point charter of demands to the principal on Monday seeking transfer of the Kalahandi Collector, appointment of lecturers for the vacant posts and full-fledged university status to the college.
