Bhawanipatna (Odisha), Dec 10 (PTI) The Adivais in tribal-dominated Kalahandi district of Odisha today observed the martyr's day on the death anniversary of noted Adivasi leader Rindo Majhi. Majhi, had died of bullet wounds on this day in 1855. Majhi and 18 of his supporters were shot by East India Company force. A rally and public meetings were held at Urladani and Bhawanipatna. Floral tributes were offered to the martyrs in the Sahid Memorial pillar at Urladani where tribals with weapons, musical instruments and dressed up in traditional dress took part in large numbers. The tribal uprising against East India Company's rule in Kalahandi led by Rindo Majhi is popularly known as "Kondh Mellee".
