Victimised Kalahandi workers return from relief camp

The Pioneer, April 2, 2012

Hundreds of victims from Kalahandi decried the Rayagada administration before Kalahandi Collector Dukhishyam Satpathy and urged him to rehabilitate them in the district.
It is to be noted that a feud had broken out among Bad Chandli, San Chandli, Kalahandi Pada and Nuapda inhabitants under Chandli police station of Rayagada district on last Wednesday.
During the feud, many houses were gutted by the mob and the victims were taken to a relief camp amidst heavy police protection.
The victims had submitted a written complaint before the Rayagada administration about the alleged role of some politicians, Chandli police officer and JK Paper Mill’s security officer in creating the feud. But no proper steps were taken against them.
The victims were living as daily and monthly workers in JK Paper Mills and other institutions. After assault and torture followed by a group clash, hundreds of victims left the relief camps and came back to Bhawanipatna with their luggage clandestinely without informing the officials.
However, after listening to the complainants, the Collector had assured to rehabilitate them as early as possible.
