Naveen plays pro-poor card of BJD in Kalahandi

BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited Dahagaon in Kalahandi district on Sunday to campaign for his party candidates. He said the Congress had never cared for the State’s development as the Congress rule was marked by contractor raj and goonda raj and prosperity of individual families.

He said the BJP has adopted a policy of religion discrimination. The BJD is born for development of the State and its people. Patnaik refereed to his welfare scheme of Rs 2-per-kg rice for which Rs 840 crore has been allocated. In the KBK districts, all the APL and the BPL families are getting the benefit of this scheme.

The Chief Minister said that for women, his Government has introduced the Mission Shakti project, which is helping women SHGs. As many as 1,000 girl’s hostels were built for the adivasi girls. The Biju KBK Yojana has also been introduced as a welfare scheme for the KBK region. A sum of Rs 50 crore has been allotted per year to the Western Orissa Development Council, Naveen added.
