Rahul Gandhi may visit Kandhamal to woo voters, security tightened

Odishatoday, 7th April, 2009

Bhubaneswar (Orissa): AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi may visit Baliguda of Orissa’s riot hit southern districts of Kandhamal on Wednesday to woo voters. The move came few days after Hindutwa poster body Narendra Modi cancelled his Raikia visit citing technical problem in his chopper. Rahul, who is arriving here shortly, will address meetings at Rourkela, Rairakhole and Sonepur before attending two more at Baliguda in Kandhamnal and Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district on April 8. In view of Rahul’s visit, the district administration has strengthened security at Baliguda, the epicenter of last year communal riots. Apparently worried over Rahul’s visit to Kandhamal, the BJP was planning to bring Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to address an election meeting on the same day." Modiji is coming to Orissa for few hours on Wednesday. But it is yet to be decided whether he will go to Kandhamal,"BJP state president Suresh Pujari said. The Gujarat chief minister meeting at Rourkela has been finalised for April 8.
