A group of people pelted stones at the house of Executive Engineer, WESCO, on Wednesday night at Bhawanipatna following frequent power cuts. An official vehicle was partly damaged in the incident, reports said.
The assurance of the Executive Engineer failed when it was committed twice by the officials before the consumers for pre-announcement of power cuts in a meeting held for the first time with the Collector of Kalahandi, and for the second time with the Kalahandi Merchants’ Association on different dates.
But power cuts continued with the same flow in the town. The reluctance of the WESCO engineers to respond positively led to public resentment, the report added.
Following the incident, an FIR was lodged with the Town Police station by the WESCO Executive Engineer, Achutananda Meher and Junior Engineer, Kamlesh Kumar Panda. Section 506, 353, 452, 294, 342, 189 and 34 have been imposed by the police on Youth Congress President, Abdul Sazid and others. No one has been arrested so far and the inquiry is going on.
