Pushpendra Singh Deo: State Minister in Government of Orissa

Let’s congratulate Pushpendra Singh Deo who was sworn-in as a state minister in Naveen Patnaik lead state Government in Orissa.

Indeed, its a happy moment for the poeple of Dharamgarh Constituency

However, people of Kalahandi, especially Dharamgarh constituency, have a great expectation from Mr. Singh Deo and we hope he will sincerely fulfill people’s expectation.

He has been representing Koksara constituency since past 14 years and this time Koksara constituency was merged with Dharamgarh constituency. He is the only BJD MLA candidate in Kalahandi district and among the 2 BJD MLAs in Kalahandi Loka Sabha Constituency (including Kalahandi and Nuapada district) who won in this election. He won with a huge margin by defeating congress candidate and former state minister Mr. Rasa Bihari Behera in 22000 votes. Politically, he is couple of years senior to Naveen babu though he is young.

This is how some people in Koksara constituency who are politically neutral and not related to him personally have characterized.

Strength
Relatively young, though has been in politics since past 14 years

Educated

Approachable

No Goonda kind of politician

Listens to people

Has political family background

Weakness
Slow in action though listens to people

No action for extending Indravati irrigation projects to Koksara region though he promised more often

No big achievement in Koksara constituency in past 14 years except regular work

An average performing MLA for 14 years

Rarely found leading any serious discussion in Orissa assembly for the cause of Kalahandi or his constituency or Orissa since 14 years, except one or two group incident with other local MLAs.

Rarely found in news in last 14 years for any positive/negative reasons except couple of time for supporitng Vedanat project in Kalahandi with fellow MLAs, largely taking order from his party

(Note: In 1980s, first time MLA Bhakta Das or Bikram Keshari Deo had already made impact in state assembly without having any ministership, but in case of Mr. Singh Deo despite being a MLA for 14 years hardly he was known to people outside his constituency before this election. We assume ministership will help him now)

Major Challenges
Extension of Indravati irrigation projects to Koksara region

Establishing a Polytechnique College in Dharamgarh (his new constituency)

Opening of B.Sc Honours Courses in Panchayat College Dharamgarh

Approval of Bongomunda – Dharamgarh – Moter – Jaiptanna – Mukhiguda – Raniguda line to a state highway

Bridge over Hati river near Karchala

Improving road condition of Dharamgarh - Behera - Jharigram - Umarkote route

Since he will be representing Kalahandi in the state cabinet he has to address local problem of whole Kalahandi, such as University demand in the region has been a serious concern among intelectuals

Needs to change his traditional image of being slow, average performing MLA and bring development to his constituency.

During Mr. Padipta Nayak, also from Kalahandi, as state ministry of Labor & Employment in the previous BJD-BJP Government, ESIC established a Government medical college in Bhubaneswar. I hope this time Mr. Singh Deo takes initiative to establish a Government Medical College in Kalahandi making him one of the motivated leader from Kalahandi region.

NOTE:
In case anybody knows any major achievement by Mr. Pushpendra Singh Deo in his constituency in last 14 years, please educate us, so that we balance our views. I have nothing against Mr. Singh Deo personally. We will be happy to publish his contribution for all our readers, which will help to understand him well. We do not have any personal reason to attack him in our blog except that we want him to take positive & serious initiative towards development of our region. If he is willing we will be very much glad to cooperate with him

He has got the oppertunity but could not utilise it properly. Lot of scope for development is there in this region. He can at least improve one hospital and one educanional institute in this region.Every day people are travelling to vishakapatnam even for minor checkup.Forget about engg and medical college, there not even a deploma or pharmacy college in this region.

As far as we know him as Dharamgarh MLA he is a good human being and a gentle man and always supportive to the land of kalahandi and poor people
