BHUBANESWAR: Opposition political parties have described the budget presented in the Assembly today by Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei, as uninspiring without any action plan for reviving the economy.
Former Union minister and working president of the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Bhakta Charan Das alleged that no steps have been announced in the budget for the agriculture sector and the State Government has tried to hoodwink people by pretending to create jobs. Criticising the State Government for not spelling out measures for permanent solution to recurring floods, Das alleged that the Government only believed in doling out favours to people. He, however, welcomed the decision to set up an agriculture college in Kalahandi district. Former minister and senior BJP leader Biswabhusan Harichandan said Ghadei has not announced any measures to deal with the recession-hit economy.
The budget will disappoint farmers as nothing has been announced for them. No steps have also been announced for creation of more employment, he said. The CPM has also criticised the budget for not spelling out any measures to tackle the recession.
