Vedanta Bal Chetana scheme inaugurated

Lanjigarh: The Vedanta Bal Chetana Programme that entrusted to open 646 anganwadi centres in five blocks in Rayagada district was inaugurated by district Collector Krushna Gopal Mohapatra amid the presence of the company’s vice-president (mines) Umesh Mehta, AVP (mines) SK Pattnaik and CSR head S Sarkar at Biranarayanpur village here on Friday. The programme is expected to benefit more than 30,000 children in the district. Children up to 30 months of age shall be given micro-nutrient supplement under the ICDS programme. Specialised training will be provided to Anganwadi workers under the project to improve pre-school education for children. Notably, the company is already providing support to 400 Anganwadi centres in Kalahandi district covering about 16,000 children. The company is also operating 38 childcare centres in peripheral villages at Lanjigarh.
