e-admission kicked off in Orissa for junior colleges

e-admission in 60 Plus 2 colleges of Orissa has kicked off well, thanks to the initiative of Madhu Sudan Padhi.

Mr.Padhi, known for his e-initiatives as the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education (DHE) is busy in fine tuning the system of admission to Higher Secondary Classes through Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

SAMS, the brain child of Mr.Padhi is being used for the academic session 2009-10 for all the 50 Government Junior colleges, 9 Aided Colleges and College of Basic Science & Humanities, OUAT.

Elaborating the e-admission process, Mr.Padhi said that there will be one Common Application Form (CAF) for admission to any stream of any of the Junior Colleges.

The Common Prospectus (CP) will have basic information about all the 60 Junior Colleges, which is available over the counters of these colleges.

Forms in PDF format are available in www.dheorissa.in for downloading.

So parents need not move from one college to another for seeking admission for their children as the DHE is out to provide hassle free admission for the students, said Mr.Padhi.

After properly filled up CAF, complete in all respects should be deposited at any one of the colleges.

The e-admission Team Member will enter the CAF for processing.

Now Teams are ready in various colleges to receive forms, said Mr.Padhi.

In fact leading the front, Sadasiva Mohapatra, Principal Rajdhani College is happy about the new e-initiative of DHE.

Dr.Mohapatra said that his college will receive forms and will be sent to Ramadevi College, which has been designated as the Zonal College for this purpose.

Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) is extending all out support for the e-admission, said Dr.Mohapatra.

High-tech SAMS lab facilities have been set up for the purpose, which has been connected with High speed internet facilities said Ashish Kumar Mohanty, chief of admission in the College of Basic Science & Humantities, OUAT.

Dr.Mohanty is happy over the facilities and said selling of forms have already started and students passed from CBSE courses filing up the forms.

e-admission will lessen sell of more forms as the students will have to file one form for any of the 60 colleges, said Dr.Mohanty.

With HSC examination results out on 30 June, selling of forms will pick up from tomorrow, said he.
