In order to enhance the quality of primary education, the State Government has decided to recruit 17,820 sikshya sahayak (para-teachers) in the State.
School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena said that the Sikhya Sahayaks would be engaged in primary and upper primary schools. “We will open up another 1,703 primary schools and 928 upper primary schools in the State. Class VIII would also be opened up in the existing 5,616 upper primary schools,” he said.
Jean further said that the sikshya sahayak can apply from any one of the districts. However, they will submit an affidavit that they have not applied for any other districts. If any irregularity is found during the scrutiny, the claims would be rejected.
The teachers would be engaged at Rs 4,000 per month. Out of the 17,820 para-teachers 529 to be recruited in Angul, 941- Balasore, Baragarh- 453, Bhadrak-923, Balangiri- 443, Cuttack- 387, Dehnakanl-361, Gajapati- 405, Ganjam- 2750, Jagatsinghpur- 464, Jajpur- 1018, Jharsuguda- 334, Kalahandi-916, Kandhamal-499, Kendrapara- 343, Keonjhar- 598, Khurda- 416, Koraput-843, Malkangiri- 417, Mayurbhanj-1798, Nabarangpur-540, Nayagarh-107, Nupada-265, Puri-385, Subarnpur-88, Rayagada- 893 and Sundergarh-704.
