Vision Kalahandi 2020 submitted memorandum to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for National University at Kalahandi

 Hon,ble Ex – President of India

Revered Sir.

Your gracious gesture to Kalahandi district by undertaking a visit on Dated 16^th January 2010, is probably predestined to lead Kalahandi towards the VISION 2020. While Well-coming you Sir to this backward landmass of India in post – independence period,  may I draw your noble attention to only one issue for which the people of Kalahandi are ceaselessly struggling through non – violence, peaceful and democratic means to achieve since last fifteen years, that is –

A  CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OR   A NATIONAL UNIVERSITY AT KALAHANDI.

Your Excellency, Kalahandi is backward at present despite its geographical location at the central point of south-west Orissa, its vast natural resources, and glorious past. K.B.K Yojana and other schemes of the Centre and State government would not work here unless Higher Education and Research will generate. Until and unless the consciousness of the people would be sharpening, the policy of the government will certainly fail; the fact needs no elaboration before your enlightened self.

                         Although the government of India has been initiating number of Universities, viz Central and National [Innovative], nothing is allotted to Kalahandi. It should be established in the backward zones, so that, the area lagging behind the developed zones would march ahead and the regional imbalance would be reduced considerably, which would ensure a concrete National Integration.

                       Lakhs of people of Kalahandi crossing across Party and professional lines have petitioned several times to both the Centre and the State to get a ‘University’. Delegation after delegation met H.R.D Minister at the Centre and the Chief Minister of the Odisha State and with utmost humility requested for a University at Kalahandi. But unfortunately, both the centre and the State turned deaf ear to the request of the people.

                          Kalahandi district has thousand and thousand acres of land ideally located at the tariff point of rail, road, and air. The region, moreover, is free from Naxlite - Maoist menace and natural hazard like flood, earthquake, sunami, and volcanic eruption. As such, the landmass is a congenial place for Education and Research to grow.

                       On behalf of the people of Kalahandi, therefore, may I appeal to your noble self to influence the Government, both Centre and State to establish A National [innovative] University at Kalahandi.
