Bhubaneswar, Mar 23 (PTI) Heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Orissa with the mercury hovering around 40 degrees C in several parts amidst reports of three sunstroke deaths.
Meanwhile, the Met office forecast that the heat wave would prevail for next 24 hours.
Official sources said that they had received reports of two sunstroke deaths in Cuttack while another person died in Khurda. These reports were being confirmed, they said.
The day temperature in almost all the places was recorded at three to four degrees C more than normal.
At least a dozen towns located in different regions of the state have been recording around 40 degree C for last three days while humidity level was 95 per cent in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
While the northen Orissa town of Baripada recorded highest temperature of 41.9 degree C, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bhawanipatna in western region sizzled at 41.2 degrees C, 41.
