The State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), headed by Prof. C R Das, has given environmental clearance to three more ‘ B’ grade projects in the state. This takes the total number of such projects cleared to nine from six earlier.
The approval follows the recommendations of the State Environmental Appraisal Committee (SEAC) to this effect.
The projects receiving the nod of SEIAA are Tusula minor irrigation project in Deogarh district, Turpi minor irrigation project in Kalhandi district and the building and construction project of the Central Government Welfare Housing Organisation, sources said.
Tusula minor irrigation project is an ongoing diversion near village Tusula in Barkote block of Deogarh district. It has been designed to provide irrigation facilities to 162 hectares of khariff and 20 hectares of rabi ayacut.
Similarly, Turpi minor irrigation project is a reservoir project which will come up across Khalanalla river in Bhawanipatna block of Kalahandi district.
The area is known to be drought prone and the project intends to irrigate 809 hectares during Khariff and 200 hectares during rabi cultivation.
Though the building and construction project of the Central Government Welfare Housing Organisation has been given the green signal, it is not yet clear whether the green building norm being finalised by the state government would be applicable to the project or not.
