In a bid to create more employment opportunities for the youth, State Government has decided to set up 10 new industrial sewing machine operators’ training centres at a cost of Rs 9.98 crores. In these training centres 7,680 unemployed youth would be given training. A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday at the State Secretariat.
Reviewing implementation of programmes under Employment Mission, Chief Minister directed officials to set up these centers by the end of March, 2011.
Other decisions taken in the meeting include 10,000 youth would be provided guaranteed employment training on different demanding sectors at a cost of Rs 10 crores. The sectors are retail, telecom, insurance, hotel industry, mobile repairing, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and business process outsourcing (BPO). Renowned companies like Centum Learning Limited, NIS Sparta, Educom and Infrastructure and financial Services (IL&FS) have come forward to provide training to the youths. In addition, the youths would also be given special training on mobile and dress making at a cost Rs 3.88 crores.
It was also decided to give driving training to the youths as there are a lot of employment opportunities in this sector. For this purpose the State Government and IL&FS would jointly set up three multi-skill training centres in different parts of the State.
In order to create awareness among boys and girls to join Defence Services, the Government would organise 12 Employment Rallis and 12 Employment Fairs by end of the year. Among others, Labour and Employment Minister, Puspendra Singh Deo, Chief Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra, APC RN Senapati and secretaries of concerned departments were present.
