Block chairman held for torturing wife in K’handi

The police arrested Golamunda block chairman Nilambar Sipka and his three associates on Sunday and sent them to the Dharmagarh SDJM court after an allegation of torture made by his wife Gunamani Megha. Nilambara had married her on February 25, 2004.

On Saturday night, the police rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Gunamani and her two sons when she complained over phone against Nilambara and his associates that her life was in danger.

The ASP had also rushed to Golamunda for enquiry on Sunday morning and arrested Nilambara Sipka, Khetra Sipka and Bala Sipka. They were sent to Dharmagarh SDJM court on Sunday evening after their bail pleas were rejected. Another associate Basanta, who was absconding, was also arrested on Monday. Talking to The Pioneer, Golamunda IIC told that a case has been registered under Sections 498 (A), 307, 436, 497, 506 and 323 of the IPC against the accused.
