With a vacancy of 60 per cent lecturers in the Government Autonomous College here, its educational atmosphere has been hit hard while the demands of the students over the years are yet to be fulfilled.
Many a time, assurances have been given to the students by the administration, ruling and opposition leaders, but to no avail.
Demonstrations in front of the college, frequent rallies and road blockades within a span of few months in the district headquarters town here have been common.
On Monday, the hapless students again sat on dharna in the college premises demanding filling-up of vacant posts of lecturers immediately, renovation of hostels, bus concession, constructions of new classrooms, starting sociology and education as honours and post graduation in geography in the college. The students have also threatened to take on to the streets if their demands were not fulfilled.
