While taking bribe of `12,000 from an applicant to issue a drug licence to open a new drug shop, Kalahandi Range Drugs Inspector Dilip Kumar Jena was caught red-handed by Vigilance sleuths under the direction of DSP Vigilance, Kalahandi Jagannath Nayak on Thursday.

In the same case, Clerk Subash Chandra Padhiari also came under the Vigilance net while taking bribe of `1,000 from the applicant.

Reports said Sambhulal Goel from Junagarh had applied for a drug licence six months back and the officials were demanding `30,000 as bribe from him to complete the paper works. Talking to The Pioneer, Goel said the clerk was dealing the matter and Drugs Inspector Jena never came before him.

Goel said that initially he had given `10,000 on October 30 to the clerk and later on when he again demanded money he agreed to pay another ` 12,000.

A frustrated Goel finally decided to inform the Vigilance Department in this regard.
