Mondei tunes into tribal folk dances

NABARANGPUR: Folk dances of western Orissa wowed the audience on the second day of Mondei-2010.


Artistes from Sambalpur performed Sambalpuri folk dance and those from Balangir and Kalahandi presented 'Dhap' and 'Kureifula' dances respectively. The artistes from Kalahandi also presented Ghumura.

Another attraction of the evening was Ranapa dance presented by Upasana Rout of Ganjam district. While a troupe from Bhubaneswar performed Dandia, artistes from Choudwar showcased Ghoda Nacha.

Tribal dancers from Tentulikhunit, Chandahandi and Umerkote blocks of the district presented their traditional tribal folk dances.

Dancers from Prasidhi Kala Kendra and Sangeet Vidyalaya, both at the district headquarters town of Nabarangpur, staged Odissi and other folk dances.

The function was attended by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (southern region) Chandra Sekhar Kumar.
