Lanjigarh-based Vedanta officials have finally decided to construct a temple on its plant premises as had been directed by Anil Agarwal’s wife two years ago during her visit.

Accordingly, a bhumi puja was held on Friday. The proposed temple would be constructed near the guesthouse. Since the foundation stone of Vedanta laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Lanjigarh, Vedanta has undergone many ups and downs in the last six years.

The top officials and staff have tried their level best to set up the industry, but due to the alleged political game, it has left them without a sigh of relief.

Following Union Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh’s shock treatment to the Vedanta and the Central Government’s recent nod to continue the one million tonne plant has raised a hope to Vedanta’s COO Mukesh Kumar.

Kumar and HRD head Sanjay Patnaik’s sleepless nights and shuttling between Bhubaneswar and Delhi in the last couple of months to fight the issue have again relieved the 800-1,000 staffs as the sword of Damocles was dangling over them.

The industry is also going to inaugurate a Vedanta hospital shortly at Lanjigarh where the staffs have already started distributing health cards to the locals. No doubt, it was engaged well in the CSR activities, but after the Central Government’s recent nod, it is again concentrating on the locals’ improvement.

The temple may grace the officials a relief for long, sources wished.
