Hundreds of farmers belonging to Kesinga block in Kalahandi district on Friday staged a demonstration before the Collectorate here displaying samples of paddy and cotton crops which were damaged due to unseasonal rain.
The farmers demanded waiver of crop loans and compensation on loss of crops during the current Kharif season.
The farmers further threatened to commit suicide if financial help is not provided to them. They submitted a memorandum to Additional District Magistrate Chudamani Seth. The district administration assured them that after submission of the crop loss report the State Government would take a decision on their demand.
