Odisha Govt says it is unable to find land in Narla and Bhubaneswar for Wagon Factory

NOTE: Earlier people in Narla along with Kalahandi intelecutlas have identified land in Narla region, which was around 300 to 500 acres. It is also found that district administration of Kalahandi was not informed to identify land in Kalahandi as per Governmental policy. Perhaps, the state Government is looking for an escape route after proposing land in Ganjam. Hope things will be clearer soon.

Are the people of Ganjam aliens and do they have no right over central PSUs, like yours? What the Railway Minister declares is not the gospel and her biasness is too wellknown. Your argument is similar to the one; or if one puts the argument the otherway that since Kalahandi has a Congress MP the central Govt is pushing for it. Had underdevelopment been an issue when the railway minister proposed it then the name of Kalahandi would not have been given as an alternative to Bhubaneswar. They could have done it straight forward. So, pursue your case and in a democarsy every one has the right to demand whatever they want but is it necessary to make a villian out of Ganjam on every issue? Not talking about the wagon factory alone. One can see a pattern in this and this is unfortunate. Have a balanced view on this and this is no way of balming Ganjam on all issues, as if it is the most developed part of Orissa. What Ganjam has achieved is by its own entreprenuers and not by any government largesse. People say Biju Patnaik has done so much for Orissa, but can you recall one instance when he favoured Ganjam. Had the present CM been benovalent towards Ganjam, the Dist would have got central Institutes because he was deciding them also. But let alone IIT, Ganajm doesn't have any central institute so far. It doesn't have any central PSU either. And fortunately the Kolkata-Chennai rail line and Highway passes through it or else it would have been no different from Rayagada or Gajapati Dists.

There is no point of blaming Ganam or its people, but blaming the politicians who are responsible for this cause, Ganjam do have all state Govt institutions, univerity, medical college, polytechnic, new central Govt funded IIIT is proposed in Berhampur by Naveen babu, Engineering college and Fishery college were made, Biju Patnaik has convienced TATA for Gopalpur steel plant despite there is no raw matetials nearby. In the assembly one MLAs has allegded more money is spent in Ganjam, highways (SH plus NH) per 1000 kms is higher in Ganjam than average Orissa. Last year 180 core was spent in Ganajm for highway, highest in Orissa, compared to
18 to 30 crore in Kalahandi. Central Govt has clearly said Bhubaneswar/Kalahandi which center can only clarify. Mamata Banerjee has said Kalahandi is backward place and needs such industry earlier. Is there any explanation?

Despite Ganjam being neighbouring dist of Bhubaneswar (Khordha) lots of institutions and regional offices were/are being made in the name of South Orissa instead of Rayagada/Koraput/any other distance place. Ganjam is also richest dist in whole South Orissa.

Govt institutions in Ganajm includes:
(1) Berhampur University
(2) MKCG Medical College
(3) Parala Engineering College
(4) IIIT (proposed)
(5) College of Fisheries
(6) polytechnic college
(7) Women's polytechnic (Govt)
(8)RDC (South)
(9) Army Defence college (proposed)

Ganjam tops the list not because it is developed, but because it has the largest population and size among the districts, the same way U.P has the highest number of centrally funded institutes, largest road and rail network and highest agricultural output. Does that mean U.P. is the most developed state in India?

As far as the list of educational institutions are concerned, tell how many of these are due to the mercy of Naveen patnaik? And most of these except the govt engg college were established almost 3-4 decades ago. You may say the Govt Engineering College is new? But, is it not true that he did sanction an engineering and Agricultural college for Kalahandi as well? Not only that during his period BPUT and NIT came up in Rourkela. VSSUT and SUIIT at Sambalpur, IIT, AIIMS, NISER etc etc at BBSR, Ravenshaw University, Law University etc at Cuttack. National Steel Institute at Puri. IIHM at Bargarh etc. Where is Ganjam?
Also the Army defence college is not proposede, it is already there since 1984, established by the Ministry of Defence.

Ganjam may have largest population but in areas its not. It is not very large compared to Kalahandi and smaller than Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput etc.

Being a large populated dist agricultural out put and NREGA schemes etc are understood, but the regional stations are not. The money spent on highways and road is also more with area. The area of UP is about 1.5 times than that of Orissa, the NH in UP is around 1.8 times that of Orissa when UP's population is 5.3 times that of Orissa. SH is more in Ganjam per sqkm than any other dist. Ganjam had received most of the institution in the name of South Odisha not by population, thats the problem? In UP also it was somehow political lobby and corruption,
NIT Rourkela was already established, IIIT is being made as national institute in Berhampur due to mercy of Naveen babu. SUIIT is a self-financed institute. However, Sambalpur has also got some regional mercy over other dist, but it is not located closer to state capital and somehow, if not exactly, located in the central region for western Orissa region or north RDCs (relative to South RDCs). There is no opposition when we know Ganajam received highest money in NREGA, IAY, etc. How Wagon factory is also being proposed is a day light robbery, if it was between Bhubaneswar vs Kalahandi issue had been different. Naveen babu's visit and initiatives of various schemes and bridges in the region could also be compared with other district in the state.
