While the State Government is spending crores of rupees in the KBK region, the apathy of the officials in executing different schemes is the main reason why the benefits of various welfare and development schemes are not reaching the real beneficiaries.

Report said that old-age pension scheme has been a mockery in Kalahandi which is widely known as an underprivileged district in KBK region.

About 100 old persons, including men, women and widows, in Brahmani village under Kesinga block, are in a dismal state as the Panchayat Executive Officer is not paying them pension regularly.

These hapless persons, aged between 70 and 80 years, have been left in the lurch as their sons have migrated to Tamil Nadu in pursuit of livelihood. They have alleged that the higher-ups in the District Administration are not coming to the village to take stock of their sufferings and initiate action against the errant officials.
