The Swabhiman Jagaran Manch (Kalahandi) on Saturday held a rally before the district Collectorate here and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Collector demanding establishment of rail wagon factory at Narla in the district.

Manch president Badri Narayan Pattanaik said it is unfortunate that Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Bhupinder Singh, who is elected from the district, is keeping silent over the issue when the State Government has repeatedly been maintaining that there is no sufficient land available at Narla for the proposed rail wagon factory in the State.

Pattanaik asserted that there is enough evidence of availability of sufficient land at Narla and Bhupinder Singh should raise his voice in the Assembly about it, especially because he is elected from the Narla constituency.

Since the Centre has asked the State Government to make available only 50 acres of land at a site where the wagon factory would be set up, the Manch has claimed that at Chapatkhanda in Narla block as much as 307 acres of land is available. Similarly, the Manch has claimed that in Narla block 95 acres of land is available at Regdimal, 127 acres at Samarkata, 211 acres at Jurkabhata, 103 acres at Dangarmal, 100 acres at Bamak and 92 acres at Bhatang.
