MESSAGE OF PEACE FROM THE HIGEST MOUNTAIN PEAK

Jogabyasa Bhoi, the 1st Kalahandia and the third Oriya to scale Mt Everest, received a grand welcome on his arrival at the Biju Patnaik airport here on Monday 6th June 2011 along with two Nepali Co-Climber.


Opposition leader Bhupinder Singh, Kishore Mania, Asst. Director of Sport and Youth Services, Sanjiv Mangaraj, Jr Pragrammee Co-Ordinater of Sport and Youth Services ,senior officials of the state government, fans and media persons were at the airport to greet the primary school teacher from Kalahandi district. Bhoi met Governor Odisha later in the day.

"While atop the world's highest point, I felt close to my mother late Puspanjali Bhoi,who passed away in 1997. I am missing her badly. I wish she was around," the 32-year-old bachelor said.

The youngest child of retired teacher Fakir Mohan Bhoi and late Puspanjali Bhoi of Rupra village in Narla block, Jogabyasa started dreaming about climbing the Everest at the age of 14. "As a NCC volunteer, I started and liked mountaineering way back in 2001," he said. Earlier, Bhoi had conquered the 17,298 ft high Renik Mountain in the Himalaya range, Rethun (2007, 21334 ft) of Sikkim, Stackcangri of Ladakh and the highest peak in South Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro, without oxygen.

Bhoi of Rupra village in Narla block scaled the Everest on May 19 at 9:30am in about thirty days. (April 20th to May 19th 2011). Trained under "Mountaineering Consultant," Kathmandu, Bhoi was the only mountaineer in the team of seven who did not use oxygen till 25,000 feet. He spent about 45 minutes at the peak. His eyes become watery after seeing so many dead bodies at the peak who were failed to complete difficult job. He said that “My main aim to climb Everest was to spread the peaceful thought of Sri Aurobinda Form world’s higest peak.”

Jogabyas, after his mission Everest, aims to scale top 7 highest peaks of the 7 continents. He has already reached at two. (Asia- Everest and Africa – Kilimanjaro) without oxygen. "I had attempted to scale the Everest without oxygen. However, after 25000 ft, I felt the need to take oxygen," he said.

He again said that about “20 lakh ruppes was spent in this mission but it is very regret to say that state government has not sponsored a single penny”. He also gave thanks to the companies and individuals those gave financial help for doing a great and risky job. He gave thanks to Sri Aurivinda
