Neglected to Kalahandi by Railway: Letter to Railway Ministry by Professor G. B. Behera

To
Honorable Railway Minister (Sri Trivedi)                                    27.1.12
Govt. of India, Rail Bhawan, New Delhi

Honorable Sir'
I am placing before you the neglect of railways for Kalahandi although Kesinga in Kalahandi had the distinction of rail connection since 30s through BNR railways followed by SER and now Eastern.

 1. Kalahndi i.e kesinga station is not connected directly to Bhubaneswar. It is sandwitched between Koraput and Titilagarh  Thus the entire Kalahandi district and nearby Nawarangpur district are debarred from directly reaching Bhubaneswar.

 2. The railway line from Lanjigarh to Bhawanipatna appears to have been tested  but no train is yet given to run.

3. The Wagon factory for Kalahandi as promised by Miss Mamata Banerjee is lost somewhere.(Pl. refer Prof. Digamabar  Patra's letter addressed to you and the PM.).

4. The train from Rayagada to Sambalpur ( 18301 1nd 18302) does not halt at Hirakud station, which serves the interest of Kalahndi and  Nawarangpur districts for medical, education, tourism and business. A 2-3 minutes halt will not disturb the schedule of the train but it will help a large section of presently harassed people.

 5. A train with a few compartments ( AC/ SL / General can run from Rayagad to TIG  at appropriate time to transfer passengers to Raipur intercity and Ispat express. This is very easy to work out provided there is interest to serve the people.

Do the people of Kalahandi expect some attention from the rail ministry or all our appeal and request go in vain ?
                                                                                                                  Yours faithfully
                                                                                                                   GBBehera
