BHAWANIPATNA: Budget outlay of Rs.1221 crores for 2015-16 financial year was approved by Kalahandi District Planning Board at a meeting here on Saturday and sent to State Government for consideration.
There was a detailed discussion on implementation of Biju KBK Yojana while Focus Kalahandi- 2020 was presented in the meeting. Simultaneous thrust to agriculture including integrated canal management with agro-based industries, mineral and mechanical industries and development of tribal areas by harnessing non-timber forest and minor agriculture produce and introduction of a large number of cottage industries were proposed at the meeting.
Infrastructure development like communication, godown facilities and improvement in power sector was also stressed. It was suggested to create education and health service hubs in Kalahandi.
Panchayatiraj Minister and district in-charge Arun Sahu proposed capacity building of officers at grassroots level through intensive training.
He said Rs.2 crore has been sanctioned by Panchayatiraj Department for establishment of district resource centre.
