Bhakta tells government to take over college

Times of India, Aug 4, 2015
BHAWANIPATNA: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Bhakta Charan Das on Monday urged the BJD government to take over the private-run Sardar Rajas Medical College in Kalahandi within seven days.

He was speaking at a meeting after joining the college students' stir, which entered its sixth day on Monday. They are demanding faculty and infrastructure according to Medical Council of India (MCI) norms.

Das threatened to take to the streets if the government allows the college to be in a state of uncertainty.

He said the Western Odisha Development Council provided Rs 10 crore for the establishment of the college and the public money should not be wasted. Das also urged the elected representatives of Kalahandi to pursue the matter with chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
