Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Bhubaneswar: Rapid changes in the climactic conditions have resulted in abnormal rise in the temperature at many places in Orissa since February.
While temperature in the capital city here had soared to 40.4 degree Celsius in February 25, some of the major cities in the state have already crossed the 40 degree mark, local Met office sources said here on Thursday.
On Thursday, the temperature in Cuttack touched 40.5 degree Celsius. Besides, the temperature also crossed 40 degree mark in Jharsuguda (40.5), Titlagarh (40.2) and Angul (40.1). While Bhawanipatna recorded 39.8 degree, in Sambalpur the temperature reached 39.2 degree. The temperature recorded on Thursday at some places is as follows: Bhubaneswar-38.3, Puri-31, Paradip-31.2, Balasore-34.5, Koraput-35 and Gopalpur-31.5. The heat wave would continue for another two to three days as there is dry weather, the Met office sources pointed out.
