Advani raises hope in KBK

Announcement of Lal Krishna Advani for setting up Kantabanji-Jeypore railway line if NDA comes to power has raised high hopes, among the people of Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.

Coming to know about the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Mr. Advani’s assurance, leading NRO Digambara Patra has appealed the Civil Society in Orissa to highlight about the life line for these 3 under developed districts.

Addressing a gathering at Khariar on 31 March Mr.Advani said that Kantabanji - Jeypore railway line via Khariar, Dharamgarh, Ambapani and Nabarangpur will be sanctioned if voted to power.

This proposed line covers Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts, said Dr.Patra, who belongs to Kalahandi and teaches in American University of Beirut.

It was also proposed for survey in 2008-09 Railway Budget speech made by the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, revealed he.

Nabarangpur, Koraput and Kalahandi are among the bottom 3 Lok Sabha constituencies in socio-economy ladder in India, a recent India Today survey reveals.

Railway development in these areas will not only boost infrastructure but also bring employment in the region, feel Dr.Patra.

A railway factory in Kalahandi constituency will also bring development as there is no Government run facotires in this region where as Koraput and Balangir received HAL and Ordinance factories respectively from Central Government.

A railway factory in Kalahandi has been a long standing demand since more than decade, said Dr.Patra.

Not a single railway line has been sanctioned in Kalahandi, Balangir, Koraput, Nuapada, Malkangiri, and Nabrangpur region during past 10 years, alleged he.
