The dismissal of party workers by the president of District Congress Committee (DCC) of Kalahandi has irked vice-president Sunil Chandra Nayak, who has also been included in the dismissal list. Notably, the District Congress Committee had dismissed eight party workers last week for their alleged anti-party activities during the general elections.
District Congress Committee president Ras Bihari Behera has no power to oust a party worker without holding a meeting among the committee members and the committee is against his arbitrary and unilateral decision, said Sunil, maintaining Behera as a spineless president of District Congress Committee.
He further suggested Behera to follow the byelaw of the party and urged him for sending the list of dismissal members to the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) after conducting proper enquiry and investigations into the anti-party activities of the workers.
The Pradesh Congress Committee will take steps accordingly, he added.
However, Behera, speaking to The Pioneer, said steps have been taken against the party workers according to the reports of Pradesh Congress Committee observer. “We have taken the right decision as per the rules and sufficient evidences against their anti-party activities have also been kept with us,” District Congress Committee president Ras Bihari Beher added.
