Orissa is likely to get at least 6 more Kendriya Vidyalayas(KV)s soon, thanks to the Policy decision of Kapil Sibal, Uinon Minister for Human Resources Development (MHRD).

Mr.Sibal is of view that all the districts having no KVs are to have at least one during the Eleventh Plan.

Earlier it was decided to set up at least 1000 KVs in the country, where only 981 exists.

However due to shortage of funds, this grand paln could not be materialized.

Now at least 200 KVs will be opened in the country during next 3 years, where there are no KVs.

With 1981 batch IAS officer, Rangalal Jamuda at the helm of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Orissa has been benefited a lot.

During his tenure as Commissioner of KVS, Orissa has received 8 more Central Schools.

Now the state is having 36 KVs and at least 6 more is expected as the districts like Nuapada, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Kendrapara and Jajpur are not having their share of KVs.

Mr.Jamuda since his take over as Chief Executive of KVS from 1 September, 2004, has all along extended his all out support for the state in setting up new schools and expanding the classes in various KVs.

KBK districts in Orissa reaped benefits, thanks to initiative of Mr.Jamuda, admitted a former Chief Administrator of this tribal zone.

Districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Balangir and other tribal zones were now linked with KVS.

In the meantime Srikanta Jena, MOS for Chemicals &Fertiliser hailing from Balasore is demanding for another KV in the district.

Mr.Jena is of view that the existing KV is catering to the need of the children of the Defence personnel, so a new KV will go a long way to serve the others.
