Bhawanipatna: The birth anniversaries of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri were organised here. Rich floral tributes were paid to the two immortal personalities by garlanding their statues in the town. This was followed by playing of Ramdhun early in the morning and holding prayers. A sobha yatra was also taken out from Gandhi Chowk to Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium where Kalahandi Collector R Santhgopalan, ADM Chudamani Seth, SP Harmohan Das, Municipality Chairman Lalita Naik, district cultural officer Kalicharan Mohanty, DIPRO Basanta Pradhan and many others dignitaries were present.
