Irked over growing gambling activities in the evening hours at Karanpita and Haliapada localities here, locals are raising questions on the efficiency and integrity of the Town police as they have remained silent spectators.

Rampant gambling in the evening hours on the main road by the gamblers with booze bottles in their hands and use of frequent abusive language has irked the locals here.

Though on several occasions complaints have been made verbally to the Town police, the residents are still waiting for action by the cops against these anti-social elements. The locals apprehend that some untoward incident is waiting to happen if these activities are allowed to continue. Due to lack of lighting facilities lights in the schools, electricity and railway offices of the town, drunkards and gamblers have been emboldened to create nuisance.

The Sadar police are also following the foot steps of the Town police. Even though several complaints of gambling at Nuagaon village under Duarsuni panchayat were informed to Sadar PS, Inspector-in-Charge Balbir Badi, the police are still reluctant to carry out intensive patrolling to curb the illegal activities.
