Farmers urged to double rice production by SRI method

The Sahabhagi Vikash Avijan (SVA), an NGO, which organises training and awareness programmes for the farmers, has managed to convince farmers to use the SRI rice production method over the last two years, which has doubled the rice yield. Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir and Kalahandi have benefited through this scheme.

Tikeram Rana from Reng under the Komna Block in Nuapada has cultivated 46 rice quintals in two acres using the SRI method.

Dhaniram Piniara and Makhana Munda under Paikmal block in Bargarh have yielded 40 quintals of rice per acre.

Junior Agriculture Officer Anand Bhoi, AO KC Sahu, Jamset RI Adikanda Swain, VLW Baladev Suna and Sahabhagi Vikash Avijan’s Bargarh District Coordinator Hrusikesh Pradhan were among others present to acknowledge the event.

Sahabhagi Vikash Avijan has re-affirmed its commitment to uplift farmers’ condition, said Sahabhagi Vikash Avijan supremo Jagadish Pradhan.
