Amjhola: There is contineous water supply however has a school without teachers and signboard without electricity

Thanks to Shri Prasanta Panda, road to Amjhola was even tougher to ride bike, in many places I had to get down and walk.
We crossed this river/spring to reach Amjhola: there is no bridge, road journey is full of challenges and adventures using a motor bike as four wheelers could not reach this place.

School of Child Labour: No teachers were coming since past two months, children are retunring back home everyday

Happy life of a tribal woman in Amjhola
There is a sign board but no electricity, not even any pole.

Dear Digambar Ji;
Thanks for visiting the village Amjhola and commenting on the issues. But I could not find any photo of the water supply system of Amjhola village. Do you have any. If having please post it here.

On the Child labour school issue I would like to inform you that, though there are teachers in the school engaged by us they are having frequent malaria and remaining absent some times. As the mid day meal provision has been stopped in the school there are some irregular attendance of the students also. We are trying to appoint a lady from that village itself as the teacher of the school so that it can function regularly.

Hope you shall find time to post the photos of the drinking water supply system we have installed in the village.

I saw the video on the drinking water and was aghast that there was no tap to stop wastage of water. As an engineer I can calculate the huge wastage of water. It is indeed sad that anyone who has taken pain and donations to execute the project has not bothered about this huge wastage of drinking water resources. Hope you will take some action.
School without teachers is common in these areas. If investigated thoroughly, there is more than 50% chance, that it will be found that there no malaria, but teachers just do not show up along with the mid day meal ration. Yours is probably an exception if it is not true.

Dear Sandip Babu,
Thank you very much. I beleive ANTODAY is taking this initiaitve and request Dillip Das babu to consider your suggestion. Quality of primary and secondary education has detoriated a lot in general school the days Govt started para-teacher posts, there is no commitment and encouragement among teachers, primary and secondary education is a serisou concern, moreover education Department has become more corrupt. Similar is the College education except few colleges. I hope to focus little more in this respect in my next visit.

Dear Digambar ji and Sandip Dasverma ji

I fully agree with your comments and I am confident to do our best in reaching more people in Thuamul Rampur block who suffer every year with water borne diseases due to non availability of safe drinking water. This water supply in Amjhola village is from a source (spring at the hill) and supplied here with gravity flow system and using no power. But regarding the wasteage of water without having the tap is due to non availabity of the proper size tap at Bhawanipatna which is durable. The water goes to the crop field in the village. We are trying to have proper size taps soon to fit those at the pipes of around 14 villages where we have such water supply system installed by ANTODAYA.

Thanking you again

Dear Dillip Babu,
Thanks for making it clear that the water is being supplied by gravity flow. Again appreciating your effort, I request you to please keep sharing and educating your efforts and positive development in the region in our blog, if you can also share some pic that will be great, you can send to: digpatra@gmail.com

Since there is hardly any cost for water from the spring, I found nobody has taken initiative for cultivation in the nearby land, at least few acres of land can be cultivated if the spring does not get dried in summer season.

Dear Sandip babu,
Being a watershed engineer and designer of the said gravity water supply project, I can pretend that, the water will flow down to the ocean through the stream if there is a tap and without a tap at present at least there is some ground water recharge.
But appreciating your and Digambar babu's concern, I must say that proper crop planning should be done for optimal use of water which willin turn augment the livelihoods of poor tribals, not emphasising on taps. I have already discussed about the matter with Dillip babu.
Thanks for your concern and response.
Best regards,
Akshaya
