Governor’s help sought for Tel river embankment

Gracing the golden jubilee celebration of Janata High School at Kashrupada in Kesinga blcok on Monday, Governor MC Bhandare told the students that to be successful in life they should first of all develop good character and learn to be kindhearted.

Bhandare also spoke about the feelings of Gandhiji while he had visited Odisha. Comparing India’s youth ratio with other countries, the Governor said, 55 per cent of youth can achieve a lot of things for the country.

Bhandare awarded the students of the school considered best in many fields. He also felicitated many helping hands who contributed a lot in establishing the school.

Delivering his speech, Kalahandi MP Bhakta Charan Das urged the Governor to try with the State and Central Governments for construction of an embankment on the Tel river, which requires Rs 663 crore, to prevent hundreds of acres of farmland in Kalahandi from being sand-cast every year and hitting farmers hard.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Bhupinder Singh, in his speech, urged the Governor to help in construction of a stadium near the school. Sadar MLA Dushmanta Naik also spoke on the occasion. School president Parshu Padhi delivered the welcome address, while headmaster RR Mishra read out the annual report.
