Orissa becomes the first state to launch online payment of transport services

BHUBNESWAR: People in Orissa need not have to run to the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) and stand in long queues to pay their motor vehicle tax or to apply for a License or to apply for the permit of their commercial vehicles. They can apply for these facilities online from Wednesday onwards.

Orissa also on Wednesday became the first state in the country to simultaneously introduce online services for three separate facilities, like, online payment of tax and fee, web-based application and appointment system for Learners License and anywhere anytime application and issuance of vehicle permits.

Inaugurating e-DISHA [Transport Online System] by clicking the mouse in a simple ceremony here chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik said, “The users of this online services can avail value based service and can save lot of time and money. This utility service is easily available, accessible in this system”.

e-DISHA is unique as it is the first ever Online System in the country that not only allows the user to pay the fees and motor vehicle tax at convenience of sitting at home through a simple web application, but also to verify past payment of vehicle and evaluate the current tax payable.

For providing such online services, the commerce and transport department, has entrusted Delhi based Smart Chip Ltd to develop, deploy and maintain a specialized web based portal. The entire payment application has been integrated with State Bank of India for collection of fees and motor vehicle taxes.

The applicants need to have a State Bank of India Account with Net Banking facility and avail the online services of Transport Department at ease, right at the click of the mouse. The online payment services will gradually be integrated with other banks.

For the last four years, the Department has successfully been implementing the Private Public Partnership (PPP) model in transport sector through their partner, Smart Chip Limited for such e-Governance initiatives like smart card based driving licenses, smart card based vehicle registration certificate, computerization of motor vehicle fees & tax collection and computerization of permit issuance & management system.

Could someone please give the website name where we can do this? I mean this e-disha website. I see tons of news material saying now we can access this e-disha online. But Where?
