BHUBANESWAR India, June 16 (Reuters) - The Indian unit of London-listed Vedanta Resources Plc (VED.L: Quote) has issued a spot tender to import 300,000 tonnes of steam coal, a company source said on Wednesday.

The coal for delivery in June and November would be used at Vedanta Aluminium Ltd's 75 MW captive power plant at Lanjigarh in the eastern state of Orissa where it operates a 1.4-million-tonne alumina refinery, said the senior official who could not be identified as he is not authorised to talk to the media.
