An Odia NRI has shot a letter to HRD Minister Kapil Sibal with a copy to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Odisha expressing surprise over not finding the name of Dharamgarh in the list of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in the State, which was already surveyed for land.
The demand for a good English medium school is very high in the region, as the region is sending large number of children to English medium schools in Visakhapatnam, Berhampur, Bargarh and Sambalpur, assistant professor of chemistry, American University of Beirut, Lebanon, Digambara Patra wrote in the e-mail.
Parents are largely suffering due to lack of good schools in the region, he lamented while pointing out that Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhawanipatna, has topped this year in the State. He stressed and justified on the importance of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in a backward region like Dharamgarh in Kalahandi, which is being unfortunately ignored and sidelined.
He alleged that the negligence is due to political interference by the State and Central Government in large extent as a result of which the region is already suffering. He has requested the Ministers to kindly look into the matter.
