Geographical importance of Kalahandi in Orissa: Location of Kalahandi in Western Bordering Orissa resembles Khudha in Eastern Bordering Orissa

  • From Patrapali in Sundergarh district in North to Motu in Malkangiri in South, the central point comes in Kalahandi district (nearby major town is Bhawanipatna) for Western Bordering Orissa.

  • From Jaleswar in Balesore district in North to Parlakhemunid in Gajapati district in South, the central point comes in Khurdha district (nearby major town is Bhubaneswar) for Eastern (or Coastal) Bordering Orissa.

  • Similarly Kalahandi is the central location as well as central district for KBK region.

  • Earlier location of Kalahandi district was also found to be located centrally for Southern RDC of Orissa.
  • For most backward districts in the region such as KBK, Kandhamal, Boudh and Gajapati districts again Kalahandi would be central district with its border directly touching SEVEN district, it is not touching only Malkangiri and Gajapati.

Development of Kalahandi might directly impact whole region in the Western Bordering Orissa as well as backward KBK+Kandhamal+Boud, the way Bhubaneswar is triggering development in all the neighboring districts and Costal Bordering Orissa.
