Med Tour Corporation India Board chairman Dr Ajay Jain and CEO Dr Nilam Mahapatra on Saturday met Health and Family Welfare Minister Prasanna Acharya in the presence of Higher Education and Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra and held discussions at the State Secretariat and held discussions.
There is lot of scope for medical tourism in the State and they are ready to develop it.
Presently they have set up projects in Bengaluru and Rajasthan.
The healthcare facilities in India are of high standards and less costly than other countries as a result they want to spend 4,000 crore and construct super speciality hospitals with 10,000 beds.
As the State is a place of origin of Buddhist religion, they want to set up a super specialty hospital at a cost of ` 500 crore and attract patients from Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Thailand which will also lead to development of tourism, because along with the patients their relatives and other people will come here, said Jain and Mahapatra.
The Health Minister Prasanna Acharya advised them to include Ayurvedic and treatment by traditional medicines and said the State Government will take steps after it receives a formal proposal.
