Vedanta to invest Rs 37,400 crore more in State

The State Government on Tuesday has given a green signal to Vedanta company to invest more `37,400 crore in the State for expanding its existing units.

The 13th high-level committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also approved other proposals of Vedanta. As per the approvals, Vedanta Aluminium company would enhance its production capacity Langigarh unit to six million tonne from existing one million tonne.

The company would also enhance its production capacity of Jharsuguda aluminium unit to 1.6 million tonne from existing 0.25 million tonne per annum. Similarly, the company would also increase power generation capacity of its CPP (captive power project) to 1,350 mega watt from existing 675 MW at Jharsuguda.

The company would spend `37,400 crore for setting up of these expansion projects.
