The Special Operation Group of Odisha police and the CRPF on Tuesday based on the information a Maoist camp was being run in the Niyamgiri jungles conducted a raid and arrested five Maoists including two hardcore Maoists, a woman and two minor girls.

South- west range DIG Soumendra Priyadarshi said among the arrestees is two militia members Sunil and Raju. During the raid the police have seized a 9mm pistol, which is used mostly by the police, two landmines, gelatin sticks and large quantities of Maoist literature from their possession.

The woman and the two hardcore Maoists were presented before the media on Wednesday and later forwarded to court. The two juveniles have been sent to a remand home in Berhampur. However, the shocking fact that has come to the light is the Red brigade increasingly enlisting minors into their fold.
