The eighth State-level theater festival concluded on Saturday here with presentation of play Kisha Ek Ajnabi Lash Ka..It was directed by Bijaya Pandya and written by Pius Kant of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The play was based on rise of violence in every sphere of life in the present society. The festival was organised by Kalahandi Kalakar Sangha, a leading theatre organisation of southern Odisha.
The non-competitive popular theater festival held at the Town auditorium in Bhawanipatna proved that good plays can have packed houses. President of the organizing committee Probodh Rath said.“Success of this year’s festival has inspired us to invite more active popular troupes from all over Odisha to participate in the festival.”
Veteran theatre activist Prafula Ratha, who is also part of the organising committee, said it was quite a welcome sign that a large number of sponsors came out to promote the festival.Among others, the local plays included ‘Tini Mankada and “Ka, Kha, Go,” enacted by ‘Kalahandi Kalakar Sangha’, a troupe of veteran theatre activists of the city. They all held audience glued to the seat.
