Was Vijayawada-Ranchi via Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagda and Phulbani declared as National Highways?

Lok Sabha

The Government has approved a scheme for development of 1202.44 km of National Highways and 4363.45 km of State Highways in the Naxal affected areas of eight states at an estimated cost of Rs. 7300 crores. While the National Highways would be constructed in Andhra Pradesh (119.95 km), Bihar (75.50 km), Chattisgarh (410 Km), Jharkhand (534.16 km) and Uttar Pradesh (62.83 km), State highways would be constructed in all the eight states including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa.

This information was given by Shri R.P. N Singh, Minister of State, Ministry of Road transport & Highways in the Lok Sabha today.

NOTE: There is a confusion, Vijayawada - Ranchi was not officially declared as National Highways. As per the this news it looks like Motu- Malkangiri - Koraput - Rayagada - Asika - Phulbani route is still considered as state highways (as there is no national highways budget for Orissa. However, Orissa will received central Govt. funding for state highways in Naxal affected areas, probably for the above route.
